During this time of year we call the dead of winter, cabin fever starts to settle in people’s behavior.
After so many weeks of time stuck indoors and more to come, also the constant drum beat of bad economic times as people lose jobs, it seems everyone is on edge.
People seem more argumentative, accusatory, selfish, etc.
It’s hard not to be that way in a global time that tells you you should be happy with all the things you have.
My suggestion is to get outside and do something. Walk the dog even if it is real cold…just bundle up.
Get out of the house.
And, despite the constant bombardment of barbs and digs from people all over the place, do return them. Try to understand the cabin fever they are dealing with.

Well, Pittsburgh did it and Phila got close. Yep, we almost had a Pennsylvania super bowl.
At least both games were good. There’ nothing worse than watching a team falter in a big game. It’s always more enjoyable when they are close to the end.
I hope the player from Baltimore is not hurt too bad.
The Cowboy fans are all watching basketball at this point I’m sure.
Pittsburgh looks good this year and will probably be favored to win.
As a resident of Pennsylvania in January, this is the biggest topic at the water coolers, hallways, and emails across the state.
If the weather was like the weather in Arizona, we’d be doing other things and not hanging off our television sets staring into the screen.
It’s not though so we are.

This time of year can make some people miserable. The temperatures are around 10 degrees in the day time and the wind howls.
But some people find this time of year a good time to get close to their spouses or significant others, their families and friends. It’s like a big huddle against the weather where everyone helps each other cope and even enjoy the frigid temperatures and icy conditions.
There are increases in domestic violence too. It seems about every day around here some person is arrested for stabbing their partner, you can fill in the blanks. One guy got stuck with a meat thermometer by his girlfriend.
January brings out the real people in us all. If you’re happy at home, it is a great month to share that happiness. If you’re miserable at home, its a terrible time to suffer through with cabin fever in the company of someone who is not a true partner.
I guess everyone learns a little about themselves in January.

Am I the only person who like cold weather? I grew up in Pennsylvania and I guess I’m used to it.
Even when it snows or ices up or whatever, I don’t care. The only downside I see is the heating bills which can be excessive because the girls I live with have to be toasty you know.
Pennsylvania is a very dynamic state with respect to weather because it constantly changes and goes from one extreme to another. There are days in the summer when it is so hot, I mean 100 degrees with 90 percent humidity, that it is impossible to get comfortable. I find that weather more uncomfortable.
Six months later the temperature will go below zero with negative 50 degrees wind chill.
My girls say I’m nuts. They want to live somewhere where it is warm all the time.
Otherwise the thought doesn’t cross my mind.
Is there anyone else out there than agrees with me?
