Coaches

Published by ralphio under Parenting Edit This

My daughter swims for a really great coach. He knows how to get the best from her and her teammates while still keeping the fun in the game.
And, he must be doing something right because his record speaks for itself.
Recently, two coaches made the news and they both exemplify how awful coaches can be. It is important because these coaches play an important role in the formative years of a young person’s life. Their self esteem and confidence are made or broken by coaches.
The first bad example is the coach who actually ran up a 100 to 0 score in a girl’s basketball game. She actually expressed no regrets. How awful. The only reason to run up a high score like that was to benefit the coach so she can brag about the humiliation of the other team. Please! Once the score got to be 30 to 0, the coach should have laid off and even let the other team score. You jerk!
The other example is the high school football coach in Kentucky who pushed the kids so hard on a hot summer day one died. Listen coach, it’s not about you and your winning record. It’s about the kids.
Coaches can be real blockheads. Be careful if you care about your kid.
