Corporations are using the bad economy as a way to screw the public out of tax money and to cut back on their employees and services.
When huge corporations have the power to determine whether they want to pay people to work of add the profits to the fat money grubbing top management, they will always choose the latter.
And now more than ever they can do it with justification.
I believe the free market system works but when you have entire communities dependent on a few employers, it is not a free market system. It is tilted toward the management of the company who can make up reasons to avoid hiring or maintaining service and quality levels.
The free market works best on the main street levels where businesses and customers can meet on equal terms. Huge corporations with secretive powers over everyone’s lives work for self serving reasons. That is not free market economics.

As I approach 50 I find myself struggling with the routineness of my life.
I have a decent job and a family and a friends. But for some reason each day seems to be like the last.
As I get older I’m thinking more and more about adventure…throwing discretion to the wind and taking on a new way of life.
The problem is though, I don’t really have the guts or the money to make those changes. And, waiting for something to happen is not the formula for success.
What to do?
I read stories about people who leave their surroundings and find true happiness. I envy them.
I guess I’ll just have to keep my head on straight.

Yesterday everyone was supposed to turn off their lights and appliances and save energy for one hour.
What a neat idea. It feels good doesn’t it?
However, will it make a difference? Will people really use less energy? THey like to tell everyone else to use less, but they don’t use less themselves.
Just about everyone I know can talk and talk about how people should use less energy, drive less, keep their lawns clean, protect the environment, etc.
But when you listen to them you will eventually hear the ways you think they can save and don’t.
I think there are two things that stop people from doing what they want to do and neither is for the good of the environment or their fellow man.
Either they are scared of being punished or they can’t afford what they want. Those two reasons alone stop people from doing what they want.

How about those guys that died on the boat in Florida. It was quite a tragedy.
There is a lot of evidence to show the football players on that boat were not only incompetent to handle a boat but were not necessarily engaging in let’s say, healthy activities. I think their minds were a bit altered.
It turns out the boat capsized with one of them tried to pull the anchor out of the floor of the gulf by gunning the motor. Anyone who knows boating knows that’s the last thing you do.
Even though incompetent and probably high, it is still pretty bad thinking of how they lingered in the for days. One at a time they succumbed to exhaustion and drowned leaving only one survivor to remember the faces of his friends in their last miserable moments.
A tragedy for sure.

I envy the guy in this picture. It is obvious to me he has a pretty good self-image and a willingness to get out there and mix it up.
Although some may be offended, who cares? The freedome of expression being shown is impressive.
I know too many people who are sooooo self conscious about everything that they would never do anything like this. These are the same people who go crazy if a hair is out of place, or if someone gets a little ignorant with them, or if their child doesn’t excel in everything. Those people have much less fun.
I would even say the self conscious people make for very unpleasant company at any venue, shopping, partying, or just hanging. THey are a bore.
This guy is probably a lot of fun to be around.

I work two jobs plus try to keep myself busy on a daily basis. I think being busy is a good thing and I always try to emphasize to my daughter now boredom can be a very negative thing.
However, some days I get up out of bed and I don’t want to even comb my hair.
Maybe it’s not such a normal thing but I can’t help it. When taking a shower and brushing your teeth just seem like too much effort, I just don’t do it.
There are times when I have no choice. I don’t want to lose my job or end up in some kind of permanent state of non-activity and when I have to do something, I do it.
Today though…I have to say I don’t want to do anything.
How about you?

Just like going to the gym every morning to stretch, bend, and loosen up the muscles and joints, blogging is an exercise that works out the mind.
As you get older, I’m approaching 50, you begin to really relish the ability to sit at a computer and put down your ideas in an understandable format for people to read and comment on.
It gives you life and makes you feel young.
I understand not all blogs are worth reading, however in this vast universe of ideas and words, it’s exciting to know some of mine are out there for your enjoyment.
Anytime you want to exercise, try exercising your mind.
You might find it enjoyable too.

Look at this picture of Obama. Should someone sitting in the President’s chair amidst all of the economic and political malaise be sitting there smiling like someone at a birthday party?
He might as well have a hat on that says, “I’m OK…you’re all screwed…but I’m OK.”
That’s what that smile says. It is totally inappropriate.
I’m not saying he should be up there acting out with overt sadness or other false emotions. He should be straight faced though dealing with issues in a serious manner.
This grin says the whole thing is a joke in his mind.
I could never sit there with all of this responsibility and smile like that. I’d be afraid someone would take offense.

THere seems to be a lot of people who have it good who like to grin in everyone’s face.
I don’t trust anyone who grins at me when we’re talking about something very serious.
To me that’s a smirk. That says, I’m OK, you’re screwed
Look at the CEO’s the politicians, the movie people, anyone who’s sitting fat while we fight for our lives. They all have those huge grins.
Happiness is a good thing. Grinning is a sarcastic form of communication in my mind.
And worse is the guffaw. When I watched the ABC news one day the whole cast was just laughing outloud…HA HA HA.
Well, it must be nice.
Turn off your televisions and get back to the human existence. Shut those grinning scumbags down.

Where are the best places to look for jobs. There are hundreds of websites that all promise to connect you with that great opportunity. But for some reason it just doesn’t seem possible they all are legitimate.
So where do you go wihen you are approaching 50 and have not been able to make or save enough money to think about retirement.
The problem as I see it comes from the fact the types of jobs available are all low paying service jobs. When I was a kid there were some industries you could count on to be around forever and keep a stable work force employed.
Now, every year it seems its a whole new list of employers all with new names and owners flood the job market. They all ask more and pay less.
There is too much change.
Maybe I should start doing wheelies on my motorcycle and just forget about it.
