Script writing

Published by ralphio at 11:38 am under Writing Challenges Edit This

Are there opportunities for freelance writer to write scripts? As a freelance fiction and non-fiction prose writer, I wonder if there are more opportunities in scripts.
I’m sure there are measurable differencs in writing scripts verses prose. Where can I learn about what constitutes a good script. The most important aspect of the script seems to be in the dialog. But how much should be put into the background such as the apparel the actors wear, the background scenery, the support characters?
Are there websites that discuss good script writing techniques? Could someone connect me?
What about the marketplace? What types of scripts are most in demand? Commercial? Fiction? Non-fiction? Where can I find the opportunities?
I hope to hear from a fellow freelance warrior.
Happy New Year!

Well I’m not really a freelance but simplyscripts.com has a pretty good messageboard. http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl There’s a ton of unproduced scripts on the messageboard and there’s also a section called screenwriting class that has some good information. The people on there seem to have a handel on what they’re talking about so I’m sure you could ask them some questions and get some answers.
