I like cold weather

Published by ralphio at 4:03 pm under Pennsylvania Lifestyles Edit This

Am I the only person who like cold weather? I grew up in Pennsylvania and I guess I’m used to it.
Even when it snows or ices up or whatever, I don’t care. The only downside I see is the heating bills which can be excessive because the girls I live with have to be toasty you know.
Pennsylvania is a very dynamic state with respect to weather because it constantly changes and goes from one extreme to another. There are days in the summer when it is so hot, I mean 100 degrees with 90 percent humidity, that it is impossible to get comfortable. I find that weather more uncomfortable.
Six months later the temperature will go below zero with negative 50 degrees wind chill.
My girls say I’m nuts. They want to live somewhere where it is warm all the time.
Otherwise the thought doesn’t cross my mind.
Is there anyone else out there than agrees with me?

I love it too. All norwegian/swedish in my blood, so I guess that plays into it. I feel like people who don’t like snow have never had the chance to see that white winter (like you get in Minnesota) - where it feels like 60 degrees out and it’s sunny… Most of the winters we get here in Ohio are just, well, gray.

I for one like some of the cold but living Wyoming we have that blasted wind that goes with it. Wouldnt mind the below zero weather if I didnt get that stinking -50 below windchill that goes with it. Just this weekend had record wind speeds of over 100 miles per hour. Cold is one thing I can bundle up and get by. Throw in that blasted wind and you cant get enough layers on to keep that biting cold on the outside.

    Hello dragon29,
I can visualize your disdain for the Wyoming wind.
What you describe here would make for a bad day for sure.
    Hang in there.

I thought that I was a true cold-weather-loving Pennsylvanian, but now I live where it barely snows and I have to admit…I haven’t really felt its absence. It’s actually rather convenient to never have to shovel or drive on icy roads. I think my snow fever would return if I had kids, but for now I’m content in the warm.
